The hunt took place on public land in Utah's central region. After getting rained out on the opener, I headed back out Sunday night and was able locate several decent bucks the next morning. After watching a few different groups of deer bed I decided  to make an attempt at stalking this buck at about 3:00 p.m.. There were 12 deer bedded together in the wide open sage, so I was bit unsure if it would really work or not? As I approached the general area of the deer there was a steady wind blowing up hill, so I decided to drop in from above. The topography and steepness of the terrain made it possible for me to to scoot on my butt for about 300yds until I was within striking distance.  The true distance of the shot was about 75 yds., but with my range finders angle adjustment it was 61 yds.(a chip shot after practicing out to 105 with epek broad heads). I took the shot, and watched his head bob up and down until dark. I decided to come back the next morning. The shot was futher back than I would have liked, but he still only went about 70 yds. I was impressed with the epeks penetrating and cutting ability at that distance!
